House on the Beach

there’s a house on the beach
with a view, far out to the sea
a pathway etched into the sand
situated on the tip of a faraway land

paw prints dominate the landscape
scatted shells, picked and kicked away
an ocean breeze filters through the air
an occasional glimpse of a seal appears

dolphins tear through the horizon
the wind echoes with the sounds of silence
two barking hounds, vibrate the earth
grains of sand, unite and disperse

wave’s crash as energy dissipates
as a woman lays patiently in wait
the tides roll in and out at the moons request
whilst there’s an empty room and a bed

the sun sets as dolphins’ glide through the sky
in the peace of night, a widow sits and sighs
the beauty of lonely, is never lost on me
and the story behind that house on the beach
